About Gdańsk

Gdańsk is located in the North of Poland, by the Baltic coast. Together with the cities of Sopot and Gdynia it belongs to an urban agglomeration called Tricity. Many citizens and tourists consider Gdańsk, along with the rest of Tricity, to consitute one of the most beautiful regions in Poland.

With its thousand-year old history, enchanting Hanseatic old town and unique historical harbour architecture Gdańsk is truly one of a kind.

Beautiful sandy beaches are just nearby. Gdańsk Shipyard is a place where the „Solidarity” movement was born, peacefully struggling for human rights in the communist Eastern Europe.

There are three major universities in Gdańsk: the Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk.

The Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG) educates more than 6000 undergraduate and postgraduate students at 4 faculties: Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy and the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology.

International students constitute more than 15% of the MUG’s students and represent more than half of all international students in Gdańsk.
